Lucy Gucy Is Your New Favorite Band

Image
When I got an email from Tiffany of The Electrets fame, I was surprised to know that someone remembered my email, and that I love all things new music. I was informed of a new rock, punk trio named Lucy Gucy. The band is set to release a debut single, “So Good” on 9/29 and I’m already floored by it. The song has a strong guitar rock sound, good percussion, and catchy lyrics. Lucy Gucy may be new, but the band already has a sound that mixes The Donnas with The Muffs and throws in a catchy element that you can’t resist. It’s equal parts punk, pop, and alternative into a solid union. There’s a lot of talent here, and you’re going to absolutely love the debut single, and will no doubt want to hear more from the band. The band is made up of Tiffany Schirz, Lila Marshall, and Garry Ventura. Together, they have really impressed me, with just one song, and I’m sure the band is going to put out some quality tunes soon enough. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, you have to catch them ...

David Bowie Dead At Age 69

Image
David Bowie has died at age 69. He was battling cancer. He just put out a record, make sure that you go and pick that up. There's a lot of death to start off this year on the blog. I'm not really sure what to write or why, since so much is going down. I'm sure I'll come up with something sooner than later.

The Specials Drummer John Bradbury Dead at 62

Image
We end the year on a sad note. The Specials drummer John Bradbury has passed away. He was 62 years old. This comes in light of the death of Lemmy, and Scott Weiland this December. It's been a tough month for music fans. As a ska fan, I am saddened to hear of the passing of Bradbury. I hope you're skanking in the sky, and hopefully we'll hear The Specials again up there.

Foo Fighters Drop A Free EP With Saint Cecilia and You Can’t Help But Love It

I’m not a big fan of the Foo Fighters, but the band did put out one of the first compact discs that I ever purchased. The first two discs that I ever bought were Foo Fighters and Nofx records, so there you go. With the Paris attacks that occurred recently, the band decided to pen a note to their fans and the world and released this EP for free. It is 5 songs, 18 minutes of the bands signature style of alternative rock. Each song has a different element to it that makes it grand, and you know what, it’s catchy, it’s poppy, and it’s a standard release for the band. Would I have purchased this record if the band didn’t release for free? Probably not. But the songs on it, are getting stuck in my head right now. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I would have purchased the record because I’m still sinking a lot of money into buying music. Then again, maybe you agree with me. I don’t know, I am just rambling at this point. If you haven’t heard it yet, you should really do so. Foo Fighters “Saint Cecil...

P.O.D. Talk Christian Music and More via Rapzilla

Image
P.O.D. sat down with Rapzilla to discuss Christian music, art and their faith. It's an interesting video that shines light on what I've said about artists for a long time. It's nice to see them come out and talk about this openly again. Even though there are some pundits that want to knock them down a peg.

Foo Fighters Everlong Letterman's Last Show

Image
I am not a fan of David Letterman, but he has some great taste. How do I know this? Because he had Foo Fighters play the last show, and his favorite song is none other than "Everlong" Perhaps one of the greatest songs Foo Fighters ever created. 33 yeras is a great career. I didn't even last a few years in tech, so this is great. Plus I'm moving to Indianapolis. Whatever the case is, here is the performance of "Everlond" from the last Late Night With David Letterman broadcast. 33 years...geez. I can't even stay in the same apartment for a year. - Get More Music - If you're going to buy music, and listen to the records I mention, please do so by checking out Amazon below. It helps me continue to build my collection, and it's much appreciated. Thanks. Amazon.com Widgets

Green Day Drum Chronology That Will Blow You Completely Away

One of the coolest things I’ve seen on youtube to date, in regards to music has to be this amazing drum chronology done by Kye Smith in high definition. The talented drummer goes through all the drumming types that Green Day has across all of their records and does it with such precision and ease that I’m completely blown away. If you are a fan of music, punk, and Green Day, this is the exact type of inspiration that should move you. I used to watch bass guitar videos and wished I could play like Mike Dirnt, so this comes with a sense of wishing I had youtube when I was learning bass. You’ll be amazed, check this out, and start learning drums.
