Cheap Music: The 62 Cent Sex Pistols Record

Every now and again I’ll run into cheap music that I absolutely have to tell people about. My goal with Sell Out Records is to talk about music on a regular basis, and recommend albums, songs, videos, and more to those that may want to pick up a record or two. Music has changed my life and will change yours. Today we begin a new segment called Cheap Music, or as the picture says. On this day I found the seminal release from The Sex Pistols, and for 62 cents (used). You can’t beat that, you just can’t. “Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols” by The Sex Pistols is the one record that all punk rockers have to listen to at least once. I even signed a band based on how closely they resembled the sound of these guys. The Sex Pistols may only have put out one album, but their legacy influences so much music it’s ridiculous. Simply Diamond Will Make You Swear It’s Neil Diamond Not A Cover

Cover bands are not always grand. I’ve seen a lot of bands try to emulate great artists and have come painfully short of getting anywhere near a high quality reflection. This is especially true with sites like youtube, and it’s sad. But there are a few great ones, and one recently caught my attention, and I was completely floored with how pitch perfect they really were. The band is Simply Diamond, and they are a Neil Diamond cover band, that completely does it right. From the look, the sound, and the song structures, you will swear it’s Neil himself. I couldn’t believe the sound quality as it really does sound quite well. It’s such an interesting thing to see and hear, and you will definitely find it to be haunting. Long time Neil Diamond fans will definitely enjoy the performance and sound of Simply Diamond. It’s a fitting tribute, and one that is far better than many others. I’m always fascinated by up and coming bands, always. It’s the reason why I started a record label in my teenage years, and it’s one of the reasons why I moved to downtown Pomona. I love music, and it may show here on Sell Out Records. I’ve found that there are a lot of bands that don’t get their due, but are out there making it happen. One of those bands that I have caught wind of is The Holstered . The Hostered have a record coming out in January 2014 and are going to set your ears on fire. They’ve managed to create a rock sound that will put you in a time machine back to the late 1970s, lo-fi garage rock sound. It’s a soulful approach that you get on their record. Fans of The Stooges, The Doors, and even Joe Jackson will find that they have tapped into something from the past and brought it back to the present.
